AVG Internet Security 2026 Review – Solid and Affordable

Rate this post

AVG Internet Security, owned by Avast since 2016, shares much of its detection engine with Avast Premium. The 2026 version delivers comparable protection at a slightly different price point, making it a compelling choice for budget-conscious users.

Protection Capabilities

AVG uses the same Core Shields technology as Avast, achieving identical detection scores (99.6% in real-world testing). The AI Detection engine uses machine learning to identify zero-day threats, and the CyberCapture cloud-based analysis provides an additional layer of defense.

Features

  • File Shield, Web Shield, Email Shield, Behavior Shield
  • Real-time security updates
  • Fake website detection
  • Ransomware protection
  • Enhanced Firewall (premium)
  • Webcam protection (premium)
  • Anti-spam (premium)
  • Data shredder (premium)

Performance

AVG Internet Security had minimal impact on system performance in our tests. Boot time increased by only 3 seconds, and applications launched without perceptible slowdown.

Verdict

AVG Internet Security is excellent value, offering near-identical protection to its parent product Avast at a competitive price. It’s an underrated choice that deserves more attention in 2026.
